This is such a good question. My therapist has really helped me see that, often, whatever is troubling me or that I am needing is information about what the support for it is - so, like, if I'm feeling vulnerable or unsure, I need cues of safety, reassurance, etc. (physical, verbal, etc). Your question and post feel like a twin sibling and it's so helpful. 🌻
Ha, I really identified with this, up to a point... while I don't want to go out and hustle IRL at this time of year, I do enjoy being busy and productive at home, catching up on projects and checking in with contacts before the end of the year (with the permission of my demanding cats).
You call it Decemberitis, I call it Elizabear season. I want to quasi-hibernate! And yet ... I have these things called "bills" that must be paid, and to do so, I must do this other thing called "work." I try to create a hybrid of Elizabest and Elizabear. I work ... in cozy sweatpants and sweaters. I work ... on the couch with my purring cat beside me. I work ... while playing spa music on my smart speakers.
I'm with you. I don't like hustling ever except when it will serve my needs (like I need to honor a deadline). My energy wants to emulate my cats: eat, sleep, play, repeat. Also there are two books I got from the library that I want to read.
Sleep, always sleep.
Good answer!
I’m sure Copernicus inspired and nurtured you. 🌈🐈🐾❤️🩹
He was a dear friend.

Thank you! Your therapist sounds really smart.
Such a welcome reminder. Also that cat tho <3
He was a special one for sure.
I think orange cats might objectively be the best.
They are. It's science.

Nothing gets done around here without the cats’ permission.
I consult with them closely year-round, eg, 'is it OK or not OK to fail at being a hyper-active hustler?'
The reply is invariably, 'we spend 14 hours a day on top of a radiator. What do you think?'

Hahaha Elizabear is a great role model!
