Thanks for this post Robin - I'd never thought of thinking even further away as a way for curbing my impatience. Breaking it down into bite-sized actions always motivates me, but I've probably been too focused on the nearer term goals as a source for those actions!

Thanks Holly! I think it's very powerful to focus on near-term goals, too. Quick wins keep us motivated! But when those quick wins don't always materialize (or maybe don't materialize in the way I want), taking the long view helps me feel less discouraged.

I can relate, Holly - impatience is my middle name and when things don't materialise immediately, I start panicking and despairing and thinking nothing is ever going to work out. I'm also trying to fight this impulse, but I'm a work in progress 🙈

I hear you Luna! I think I'm still in the optimistic stage as I have 7 months left in my current work contract. But really hoping I can go part time in my next role, so as the time comes closer I think I'll start to edge into panic a little...
