Asking for help is SO hard when we are independent, highly motivated, driven individuals not used to relying on others. But look what happened when I asked for help and you answered! In a world of data-driven decisions, that is a large pile of proof for ya.

This is so exciting, Robin. I’m glad you posted this. Not only do I think your dreams are achievable, I think what you want to do is desperately needed by a lot of people.

Well duh, Robin. I've been wondering when you were gonna do this, 'bout time. 😜

In less smart-assery words 😉 - I feel lighter already knowing that when I'm ready, a trustworthy person with a heart of gold who has the EXACT skills that I lack (and desperately need) is here and her shop sign says: OPEN!

And for what it's worth, from my outsider perspective, this is not a cliff at all... this is a natural step forward on a path that you've already created by your hard work to become excellent at what you do. At most, it's maybe a little fresh mulch on the path so that others can join you on the journey. 👣 Thank you for taking the risk so that we can walk with you! 💜

This is courage in black and white, and it takes a lot of courage to shape a life into what you want it to be. Keep going!

You make me feel brave, Robin. I know this took gumption and probably some hand-wringing (perhaps ice cream as well?). Brava, and thanks for being you. 🌻

See also: YOU CAN ABSOLUTELY DO THIS - and that's not toxic positivity talking. It's a mashup of achievable dreams, capability, and a hella supportive community. 🫶🏻 Go. for. it.

Thank you so much. There was absolutely hand-wringing, sadly no ice cream, but plenty of coffee!

Sometimes you just have to press publish and see what happens. Until you do that, you will never know. Asking yourself what's the worse that can happen, and you realise any negatives will turn into positives, because you will learn from them.

IMO, the hardest part is keeping the momentum going and knowing when to ask for help. Something I am doing with the FoodStack Library right now.

All authors and their substack publications have the potential to be a great success. We just need to find the right road to travel down, connect with like minded people and away we go. Not as easy as it sounds though. :-) Good Luck.

Once again you seem to be writing about my life as well, it's uncanny 😅 Last December, after getting laid off for the second time in a year (💀) I also went out with my diary to a peaceful place, sat down and wrote what I wanted my life to look like, and it was almost exactly the same as what you wrote. It's really encouraging and inspiring to see you tell your dream to the world and put it in motion, because it makes me feel like this is maybe possible and achievable for me too. I've been working on it all through this year, but I'm scared every day and mostly feel like hiding under a rock. I want to work on the "asking for help" part because that's where my biggest issue is, I think – not because I think I need to do everything myself, but because I'm afraid no one will answer.

I feel you, Luna! For what it's worth, I've been laid off twice, too (though not twice in one year -- that sounds rough!). The first time was terrifying. The second time was slightly less terrifying because I had more savings and a bigger network to help me, and by then I was mentally used to the wild swings of working in tech. Both experiences taught me that most people really do want to help us and are rooting for us to succeed, but they often aren't sure what kind of help we need. That's why it's so critical (but still so hard!!!) to not only ask for help, but to tell people exactly what kind of help you're looking for. When people clearly see how they can help you, they'll genuinely want to!

That is such excellent simple advice. Figuring out the exact next kinda help you need! People do truly want to help. It's almost jarring.

Funny enough, I've done something similar this week. And you know, it made me realise that my ultimate goal is not unachievable. It needs more time (I gave myself three years), a thorough strategy in place, persistence, and consistent effort.

I'm super excited about your giant leap and ready to follow. I'm excited to see what you decide to do with easyful marketing paid membership, but I'd say, from my point of view, there’s no pressure—I will benefit from any “slow grow, long-lasting results” marketing tips.

I've also listened to another interview with Steven Pressfield, who mentioned something in the sense that once you state your dream and say it out loud to the world, the universe conspires and aligns to make it happen by bringing opportunities and people your way. I don't know if you believe this stuff, but it's worth trying.

Robin - do you realise that you are already doing all the things on your list? It is the start - but everything you say is a "dream" (as if it is happening sometime in the magical future) is exactly what I experience and see you doing NOW. Capital letters intended

You are living the dream - so carry on dreaming.....and dont wake up!
