One gift I have been giving myself daily is time to connect with a friend. Meaning, I call or text or send an email as a way to maintain closeness in what feels always to be a long distance. It helps with the feeling of aloneness or isolation.
- take note of your body and unclench where you need to
- make time for a phone call or text exchange with someone who always makes you laugh
- re-read the books that inspire you about humanity (A Paradise Built in Hell by Solnit is currently my read)
- let your pets guide the day (pause when they sniff on a walk, lay down and nap when they do, have a little treat, be on their time - they know so much) If you don't have pets, go to the dog park or visit a friend's pet or see if you can sign up to take shelter animals on outings
Truly, my dogs remind me of the important things on a regular basis. Take the long walk. Nap in the sunshine. When you’re hungry, eat. When you’re tired sleep.
My boy dog literally just comes and closes my laptop when I’ve been on it too long. It’s annoying but also every time it reminds me to get up, stretch, play.
Looking after ourselves and each other is so important all the time and especially now. As hard as it is we must find the joy in the simplest of things to stay with hope. Xxxx

Excellent go-back-to-these-as-needed tips.

These are all great ideas. I love the idea of letting animals guide our day!

I love Teeccino! Maybe that’s just what I need to get me through the rest of this winter. Thank you for reminding me of it!
Your link in #9 was excellent!
