Joy is an act of courage and defiance
Even in a terrible news week. Especially in a terrible news week.
How’s everyone doing today?
Reading too much news? Getting caught up in doomscrolling? Spiraling into existential dread about the state of humanity and the world?
Yeah, me too. 🫠
It’s easy to feel hopeless right now. I can point to hundreds of reasons why we’re all probably doomed.
And also…
Fatalism is a choice. Cynicism is a choice. Throwing up your hands and claiming it’s all hopeless is a choice.
Joy is a choice.
When the world seems to be falling apart around us, choosing joy is a powerful act of courage and defiance. Choosing joy means:
Choosing possibility, imagination, and humility over fatalism and defeat
Rejecting the narrative of fear
Believing in something bigger than ourselves
Insisting that our present reality does not need to be our destiny
Gifting the world with the work of your dearest heart
Today, I choose joy.
You're hitting the right spots. I don't always read your posts as soon as you release them. Somehow, I circle to them at the precise time I need to hear what you're sharing 😊 I'm very grateful for creative letters ❤️
Perfect timing - been feeling the heaviness permeating through my usually thick news-free filter today. Thank you. Tomorrow, I'm off to a 4 day gathering full of song, ceremony, river time and celebration of the whole spectrum.
