Feeling confused? Ask yourself this.
For the times when everything feels like a big, confusing mess
Being a human is confusing. Making art is confusing. Making art while also being human? Very, very, overwhelmingly confusing.
If that resonates right now (it sure does for me), here’s a small but helpful question to ask yourself:
What is one thing in my life that I don’t feel confused about right now?
If nothing comes to mind right away, stay with it. Eventually, an answer will come. When it does, reflect on why you aren’t confused about this one thing.
What does it reveal about your values, desires, fears, aspirations and capabilities?
What steps can you take to bring forth more of this not-confusing thing into your art — or your life?
When the path ahead is unclear, simply pausing to reflect on what you do know is a tremendously powerful exercise. It may not clear all the fog, but it just might clear enough of it to reveal the next step forward.
Love this! Thanks, Robin!
What a great perspective shift!
